WELCOME TO OGK
Raleigh’s Kitchen For Good.
Our Giving Kitchen is not a food drive, a pantry shelf, or an assembly line. It’s a hands-on cooking experience where volunteers prepare fresh, wholesome meals from scratch.
Every OGK session brings together people of all ages and communities from across Raleigh to create meals that are nourishing, dignified, and full of care. We team up with food banks, shelters, community centers, and places of worship across Raleigh to get fresh meals directly to families who need them most, building bridges and maximizing our impact.
The recipe is simple: gather good people, cook good food, and send goodness out the door.
ABOUT US
We're an inclusive, non-denominational extension of the Raleigh Jewish community that welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds for a hands-on, interactive way to give back to our community.
Here’s how we create a volunteer experience people actually want to come back to:
Made With Love
Every nutritious meal is made from scratch using high-quality ingredients and delivered the same day to local families in need. No preservatives, no cans—just wholesome food with heart.
Rooted in Chesed
Feeding others is one of the most powerful expressions of chesed — kindness in action. OGK gives you a practical, beautiful way to live that value.
An Amazing Experience
No boring food drives or assembly lines here. Every OGK session offers an engaging, interactive experience that's anything but ordinary. Roll up your sleeves, make new friends, and feel great about giving back.
Powered by YOU
Every meal is made possible by volunteers, donors, chefs, businesses, and partners who believe in showing up for Raleigh.
OUR STORY
It started with a simple dream: to make giving back feel joyful, meaningful, and deeply human.
As leaders in Raleigh’s young Jewish community, we — Zalmy and Mushka— have spent years creating spaces where young adults can connect, celebrate, and feel at home (read more about our first community initiative, CYP Raleigh). Again and again, we saw that people weren’t just looking for events. They were looking for purpose. They wanted to give back, make a difference, and feel part of something bigger.
Our Giving Kitchen grew out of that dream: a place where neighbors, volunteers, community partners, and friends could come together to shine light for the people who need it most in our area.
And the kitchen felt like the most natural place to begin.
Because food is personal. A fresh meal can say: you are seen, you matter, and someone cared enough to make this for you.
OGK gives young adults a meaningful, fun, and hands-on way to give back — by cooking fresh meals, building real connection, and sharing care with neighbors facing food insecurity.
At its heart, it’s simple: good people coming together to make good food for neighbors who need it most.
Come make something good with us.
